Stockport School Nursing Services are part of the Women, Children and Diagnostics Business Group of Stockport Foundation Trust, and is also part of a wider integrated children's service with Stockport Council called 'Stockport Family' which is an improved way of working with children and families in Stockport. The service includes health visiting, early help and social care services.
An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced school nurse to join Stockport Family as a Specialist Nurse for Exploitation and the Youth Justice Service. We are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated and enthusiastic nurse with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills who embraces multi-agency working and will work innovatively to support the health needs of vulnerable children and young people
The post holder will be responsible for providing health advice for social care professionals, health input to assessments and to provide specialist knowledge and expertise in relation to health issues and concerns within the remit of exploitation and focusing on the health needs of young people on the YJS caseload up to age 18
To ensure safe and effective support to vulnerable children and young people.
To provide an additional school health service to those young people identified by the Service as vulnerable to child sexual exploitation or criminality.
To proactively provide evidenced based practice within a challenging context to promote health and well-being for children and young people open to the Service up to 18 years for YJS and up to 25 for complex safeguarding
To provide screening of health records for all young people open to the Service.
To promote effective safeguarding practice by enabling health professionals to identify families who are/may be having difficulty in meeting their child`s health needs and ensuring that these families are clinically managed through a high standard of evidence based practice and structured programme of support.

In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of 13.
SCPHN - School Nursing
SRE/PHSE/sexual health qualification
Sound knowledge of specialist community public health nursing
knowledge of issues affecting children's health - MH, SH and complex health needs
key policy drivers for school nursing, YJS, Child protection - local and national
Detailed knowledge of issues that are linked to CSE and Youth Offending
Broad base experience in nursing/school nursing
Experience of working with children and young people in a community setting
Multi agency working
experience of delivering sexual health advice and education to young people
experience of complex safeguarding
Experience of presenting at conferences and training events
Motivated and flexible to meet the needs of the service
Ability to meet the challenges of working with vulnerable young people and youth offenders i
awareness of risk assessment and planning safe contact
