Technical Lead / Engineering Lead Location: Manchester Salary: £90,000 – £103,000 + 15% bonus About the Role We are seeking a Technical Lead to play a key role in delivering innovative, high-impact digital solutions across diverse industries including Government, Financial Services, Energy, Health, and Manufacturing. As a senior member of the engineering community, you'll guide cross-functional teams through the full software development lifecycle — from shaping technical strategy and architecture to hands-on delivery and mentoring. You'll work in a collaborative, agile environment where creativity, curiosity, and technical excellence are valued. What You'll Do Lead and mentor software engineering teams, providing technical direction and hands-on guidance. Shape and deliver end-to-end software solutions across varied tech stacks and cloud platforms. Drive continuous improvement across development, testing, deployment, and operations. Design and implement CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code for scalable delivery. Optimise application performance using caching, load testing, and database tuning. Ensure modern engineering standards such as TDD, contract testing, and secure coding are embedded in every project. Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to translate complex business needs into practical, technical solutions. Provide technical expertise during bids and proposals, influencing solution design and delivery approach. Tech Stack You'll work with modern, scalable technologies and frameworks including: Languages: JavaScript / TypeScript, Java, Frameworks: React, Angular, Node.js, Spring Boot, .NET Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP CI/CD: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps IaC: Terraform, CloudFormation, Azure Bicep Safe and pragmatic use of AI tools throughout the SDLC What You'll Bring Experience leading high-performing software engineering teams. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with credibility at senior levels. Proven experience shaping full software delivery lifecycles and improving delivery efficiency. Deep understanding of modern architecture practices including event-driven architecture and microservices. Solid experience implementing DevOps principles, automation, and CI/CD pipelines. Ability to balance technical leadership with hands-on delivery when needed. Experience contributing to business development through technical expertise.
