**Job description**

The Group Infrastructure Operations (GIO) function within Digital, Data & Technology Services (DDTS) is recruiting an Infrastructure Technical Lead.

This post is one of a small group of Technical Leads who are Subject Matter Experts providing technical assurance for the operational environment across the Defra Group estate for End User, Hosting and Connectivity, IT infrastructure services.

Infrastructure services are key to the ability of Defra Group, its arm’s length bodies (ALB) and its internal and external end-users to perform critical everyday activities, you will play a key role assuring the availability of these services.

**Responsibilities**
- Provide technical supplier assurance across a complex multi supplier environment.
- Represent the Authority and provide technical advice during incidents and problems to ensure suppliers’ resolution proposals are technically assured and cost-effective.
- Technically assure proposed changes for service impact, identifying and reviewing risk profile.
- Identify and track technical risks, ensuring appropriate mitigation plans are in place and that risks are escalated and understood for investment cases.
- Drive and influence the provision of Infrastructure services, to ensure overall functionality and performance meet business requirements.
- Validate scope and design of IT solutions proposed by suppliers. In particular, integration with existing and planned IT environment and strategy, whilst ensuring plans are kept within DEFRA’s agreed architecture landscape.
- Develop strong working relationships with other Technical Leads, Supplier Managers, Service Owners, GIO Process Owners, Project Managers, Architects and Security Specialists to ensure the smooth running of services.

**Skills and Experience**
- Significant technical experience managing the full breadth of infrastructure services for Hosting, End User and Connectivity to Subject Matter Expert/Solution Architect level.
- Experience of technical supplier assurance within a complex environment.
- Experience of technical assurance of incidents and problems in a large and complex multi supplier environment.
- Experience in internal and external stakeholder management.
- Effectively prioritising workload to align with the evolving business requirements.
- Qualification in ITIL Foundation v3 or ITIL 4 or equivalent experience and commitment to work towards qualification.

**Salary**: £49,403.00-£61,391.00 per year
