Pinewood Technologies is currently searching for ambitious and analytical technology students to join our Software Development Placement Scheme, starting in the summer of 2024. If you’re an aspiring software developer with a passion for programming and a desire to expand your current skillset, this could be the perfect place for you

During your placement year, you’ll be fully integrated into one of our talented development teams where you will work on real projects that will make a direct impact on our business. Based at our office on Birmingham Business Park, you will spend 12 months gaining exposure to the ever-growing world of technology and expanding your knowledge on the software development life cycle.

What can you expect?

We offer lots of support and a structured learning plan to ensure you gain all the skills you need to succeed with us. So, what will your placement year look like?

  • We will kickstart the scheme with an initial settling in period including a business induction and coding boot camp. You’ll get to understand Pinewood’s wider business, meet key people, and bring yourself up to speed on the technologies we use.
  • You will spend 12 months working in one of our talented development teams, where you’ll have continuous guidance from your mentor and you’ll help to create innovative software for our customers.
  • You'll undertake regular technical workshops including JavaScript, debugging, unit testing & SQL.
  • You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of an entire project from design to release, as well as the chance to take part in extra projects to build your knowledge in other areas such as UX.

About You

We don’t expect our placement students to know everything. We look for those with a passion for technology and programming, a strong team ethic and solid communication skills. As long as you have a genuine desire to learn and develop your skillset, we want to support you in achieving your goals. You will also need:

  • To be a 2nd year university student studying Computer Science or something similar.
  • To have strong problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset.
  • A keen interest in software and technology that goes beyond your academic study.
  • A positive, enthusiastic attitude to learning and a desire to develop your personal and professional skills.

Pinewood Technologies PLC was established in 1981, with our head office based in Birmingham, UK. We offer a cloud-based Dealership Management System for retailers in the global automotive sector. Our DMS allows automotive retailers to work more efficiently and assists them with providing a high standard of customer service, resulting in higher profits. Our system is also complemented by a range of integrated mobile apps which helps to further digitalise processes within the motor dealership. Our customers represent over 50 major automotive brands, with over 30,000 people using our DMS on a daily basis in the UK, the Nordics, South Africa, Asia Pacific, and various countries across Europe.
