The Community Children's Nursing Service consists of a generic Community Children's Nursing Team, Hospital at Home Team and Children's Nurses in Primary Care Clinics and the paediatric Bladder and Bowel service. The post holder is expected to work flexibly across services. Responsible for providing skilled nursing care in bladder and bowel clinic, group sessions and occasionally home visits. . They are also responsible for the effective assessing, planning implementation, delivery and evaluation of individualised nursing care to children as required and under the direction of the Senior Practitioner.


To support the senior practitioner and the Matron in children's service to continue the strategic development of the service.


To help to foster and build effective working relationships within the service children's nurse specialists, the community children's nurses, and across multi-agencies including


School nurses and general practices.


To ensure that the nursing needs of children are identified with appropriate strategies to meet the needs within primary care settings.


To participate in service promotion activities/events.
To provide and assist with the nursing care of Bladder and Bowel patients in a primary care setting.


To be responsible to the Senior Practitioner for all aspects of work.To liaise with other disciplines, including medical staff, allied health professional & social services as required.


To assess the needs, plan, implement and evaluate care.


To demonstrate a commitment to implement elements of clinical governance and to contribute to improving standards of care in line with recommendations.


To participate in research projects and/or innovations, including health promotion activities.
