An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly and progressive Community Children's Nursing Team, Full-Time (37.5 hours per week) as Band 6 Nurse. The post sits in a well-established friendly CCN team that delivers acute, specialist school, ambulatory and chronic, complex care providing a 5 day service to children and their families living in Harrow Borough. The post holder will work across the Community Children's and Specialist School Nursing team. You will not be required to work weekends and bank holidays currently. However, this may be required in future as the service is looking to provide a 7 day week service. This challenging and rewarding role offers the opportunity to meet the needs of children, young people and their families within a multidisciplinary inter agency framework.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic forward thinking children's nurse, community experience would be an advantage but not essential. You will be a highly motivated independent practitioner with sound evidence based skills. The post holder will manage a varied caseload, act as a resource for an identified area of clinical special interest and contribute to the on-going development of the CCN and SSN team.

Job responsibilities

You will have the ability to provide case management of an identified caseload of children and young people with complex needs by utilising and promoting evidence-based care. You should also have excellent interpersonal skills to support you in managing complex discussions with a range of agencies and individuals, including care providers, patients and relatives.

In addition theability to work in partnership with parents and multi-disciplinary agencies to provide skilled care to children and young people within the community to support safe discharge and hospital admission avoidance, is essential.

You will be highly organised and have a flexible approach to work, able to deal with difficult situations autonomously with demonstrable, excellent communication skills.

This role also requires the post holder be flexible around working days, as support to staff may be required in the evening or nights, as part of planned supervision and support.

Previous experience

  • Experience as band 6/band 5
  • Recent experience within an accute/community setting
