London, United Kingdom State Street Full time

Position Summary

State Street Corporation (NYSE: STT), is the world’s leading provider of financial services to institutional investors, to which it provides custody and management of their assets; accounting, daily pricing, and administration of their funds; the information and analytical tools that help them make investment decisions; and the foreign exchange, cash management, credit, and electronic trading services that help them negotiate complex, global financial markets efficiently and effectively.

This role sits within the second line of defense and reports to the Head of Enterprise Technology Risk Management. You will drive a risk-aware culture throughout the organization by challenging the status quo and providing objective thought leadership to our organization.

Your Duties and Responsibilities

  • Providing oversight for the operational resilience risk program and framework implementation for State Street, including leading review and challenge of the firm’s resilience capabilities, which are focused on the firm’s ability to deliver its CBS across a range of severe but plausible disruption scenarios
  • Fostering close collaboration with the first line Enterprise Resilience Office in the development and implementation of the resilience framework while maintaining second line independence
  • Playing a lead role in facilitating elements of the Operational Resilience framework, including Impact Tolerance setting, Policy and Standards development, and resilience scenario analysis;
  • Ensuring the program is meeting key milestones to meet regulatory requirements and deliverables, including identifying vulnerabilities and ensuring the appropriate remediation by risk owners and governance
  • Collaborating with the first line Enterprise Resiliency Office, CBS Owners, Business Units, and Corporate Functions to ensure a holistic view/management of risk impacting CBS delivery
  • Working effectively with senior executive management to drive understanding of CBS vulnerabilities and response capabilities
  • Providing second line oversight for the firm’s oversight of the Enterprise Continuity program and standards
  • Actively engaging in ‘review and challenge’ of key inputs, outputs, themes, and actions stemming from first line and other second line risk programs
  • Providing risk insight on operational, technology, and resiliency risk trends and industry knowledge
  • Working collaboratively with the Enterprise Risk leadership team to maintain proper local governance structures across key regions (EMEA, APAC, and North America)
  • Work closely with management to establish an appropriate culture in line with the agreed risk framework
  • Oversee all hiring, coaching, performance, and development of Operational Resilience staff globally
  • Develop effective working relationships and communications with staff and ensure that staff are motivated, developed and supported
  • Act as primary liaison on operational resilience-related questions with regulators, internal and external advisors and other internal control groups
  • Ensure that appropriate risk management information is produced and reviewed at appropriate intervals
  • Report regularly to corporate, local and regional governance committees with appropriate, timely and relevant risk data
  • Support a culture of risk transparency and effective challenge
  • Maintain the highest standards of conduct and integrity and ensure compliance with accepted industry practice, company policies, statute and regulatory requirements

Experience Required :

  • 15+ years of experience with at least a substantive portion in Operational Resilience Risk, or other similar control function
  • Demonstrated knowledge of multiple risk management discipline, environment, standards, and regulations
  • Exceptional program leadership, influence, and relationship building skills
  • Strong ability to understand and engage in business transformation; productively highlight risks and opportunities and effectively manage a successful outcome
  • Passion for complex problem solving and demonstrated proficiency in strategies to drive engagement, transparency, and shared sense of urgency in others
