StokeonTrent Staffordshire, United Kingdom Stoke on Trent City Council Full time

Housing Development and Growth
Transport Policy and Planning
This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a small team, building strong relationships with communities, schools, workplaces and other local organisations.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council manages a partnership, alongside neighbouring local authorities and train operating companies, that works to improve our local railway stations and encourage rail travel. It receives funding from the rail industry, and it also seeks grants for specific projects. It also looks after a large, dedicated team of volunteers, who help transform our local stations into places that are safe and pleasant to use.
As a Community Rail Partnership Officer, you will help deliver the North Staffordshire Community Rail Partnership (NSCRP) action plan, which is a combination of projects and core activities, offering support to various community and school groups. You will also bring new volunteers on board and support them with their ongoing experience as part of the Community Rail Partnership. You will develop and engage communities in fun, innovative and informative activities. You will also share resources, and work with communities to reduce car use to and from train stations, increasing the opportunities for walking, wheeling and cycling, improve stations and encourage people to use rail for their everyday journeys - helping increase passenger numbers on the rail services and helping community rail to flourish.
We are looking for someone with experienceof leading activities for volunteers, schools and community groups, being able to communicate confidentially with diverse communities by various means. You should have the ability to build relationships with ease across a wide range of people including local authorities and similar partners.
It is often a very ‘hands-on’ job also, with plenty of time spent at our local stations around Staffordshire, Derbyshire and South Cheshire working with communities along the line, with the remainder of your time being a hybrid of home and office based, with the office base in Stoke-on-Trent. The successful candidate must be willing to work flexibly and be able to travel across the area covered by the NSCRP as well as attend meetings/events at locations across the region or nationally and/or out of hours, as required. A rail pass for East Midlands Railway services on the line will be issued to the successful candidate.
You should be willing to work outside normal office hours occasionally.
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
Stoke-on-Trent City Council values the diversity of its community and aims to have a workforce that reflects this – we therefore encourage applications from all sections of our community. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees – a place where we can all be ourselves and succeed together.
Please note that if an employee who is currently at risk of redundancy within the organisation applies for this vacancy their application will receive priority.
