The Medical Same Day Emergency care (SDEC) team at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust are actively seeking a motivated and forward-thinking senior nurse to join them in the role of Band 7 Practice Development Nurse . SDEC provides care within the structure Medicine and Emergency Care and currently covers 3 clinical areas including Frailty SDEC areas across both Sandwell and City Hospital

The primary responsibilities of the successful applicant will be to plan and coordinate education and clinical skills both bespoke and structured for SDEC, in preparation for our move to MMUH. playing a pivotal role in the recruitment and retention of staff.

You will play a key role in maintaining clinical quality and ensuring that clinical governance standards are upheld. You will also have responsibility for nurturing and developing the nursing Team to maximize its potential and focusing on strategies to maintain and improve staff well-being.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will lead on aspects of the Professional Development strategy for SDEC,

The post holder will be an expert practitioner, and will be expected to provide leadership and direction to the SDEC team

The post holder has the responsibility for assessing educational and developmental needs of all levels of nursing and other non - medical staff, devising and implementing strategies to address both individuals' and service needs.

You will be a passionate, adaptable, organised individual and with the responsibility for the training budget with in Acute Medicine.

Qualifications

Essential


  • RN adults with current NMC registration
  • Degree level education relevant to specialty or working towards
  • Speciality qualification e.g. ENB 124 / Coronary Care Course or equivalent.
  • Teaching / assessing qualification e.g. ENB 998 or equivalent.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Leadership / management course or working towards
  • Advanced Life Support Provider (Resuscitation Council UK approved)
  • Clinical Supervision Course
  • ALERT course

Desirable


  • Advanced Life Support Instructor
  • Counselling course
  • Master or working towards
  • Specialist practitioner award
  • ALERT course Instructor

Experience

Essential


  • Significant post registration experience
  • Relevant experience in speciality of Acute Medicine nursing at senior level
  • Proven experience in the involvement in teaching and learning initiatives both internally and external to the Trust
  • Evidence of supporting others within the clinical environment.
  • Experience of audit initiatives and other quality initiatives.
  • Evidence of resource management experience
