Job summary

The Clinical Directorate within Digital Health & Care Wales (DHCW) are looking to appoint an Information Governance Assurance Manager (WASPI) to work within the team.The organisation leads on large-scale developments that make a significant difference to the people of Wales with this post responsible for the creation and delivery of the Wales Accord on the Sharing of Personal Information (WASPI) Code of Conduct.

You will be working as part of a dynamic and friendly team to raise the profile of data protection and information governance.All applicants are invited to apply in Welsh, any application submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application made in English.

Main duties of the job

As the Information Governance Assurance Manager, you will have responsibility for implementing the governance and accountability framework associated with the implementation of the Information Commissioner's Office Code of Conduct for the Wales Accord on the Sharing of Personal Information (WASPI) service. This will involve liaison with a range of stakeholders, including Welsh Government, Health Boards in Wales, Local Government, smaller public bodies, inspectorate bodies, and third sector partners. You will be responsible for supporting the WASPI Code of Conduct Monitoring Body arrangements, capable of preparing board level reports to the Information Commissioner's Office as part of statutory responsibilities of delivery of a Code, Welsh Government and the DHCW Executive Board.The role will provide, maintain and develop external facing services, tools and standards aimed at:

(i) Supporting NHS Wales organisations and stakeholders to comply with legal obligations.

(ii) Underpinning the delivery of the aims and objectives of DHCW's Integrated Medium Term Plan.

  • Relevant Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of further relevant higher degree level development/post graduate qualification - education and/or training or equivalent experience.
  • BCS Certificate in Data Protection or equivalent qualification

  • Registered with a relevant informatics professional body.
