Our Bury St Edmunds office has several positions available in Ecology, we are interested to hear from Senior/Principal Ecologists withapprox 4-8 yrs experience, along with junior Ecologists ideally with some experience of field surveys orGraduate Ecologist with a proven interest in Ecology through volunteering or wildlife groupmemberships, courses etc.

The position will involve:

  • Assisting with protected species surveys
  • Compiling, analysing, evaluating and interpretating survey data
  • Producing and contributing to technical reports including Preliminary EcologicalAppraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments and others
  • Mapping Habitats in a GIS system and contribute towards Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments

Working together with our clients and alongside works alongside a variety of otherenvironmental disciplines within the Firm, environmental planning, archaeology, arboriculture,landscape architecture and engineering, the ecology team deliver solutions to challengingproblems in a wide range of projects of varying sizes including residential, large scale mixeduse developments, utilities & infrastructure, green energy (wind turbines, solar) andquarries plus a range of other bespoke projects and clients. You will be exposed to the fullbreadth of ecology works in a short space of time and be taught the necessary skills for you toadvance your career in ecology.

What we would like from you.

  • A degree or equivalent in ecology or a related discipline.
  • Be working towards, ‘qualifying member’ status, or higher, of CIEEM
  • A good understanding of relevant UK Nature conservation legislation and planning process.
  • Have an adaptable and flexible approach to work to meet demands at peak times. As the roleis likely to involve occasional longer and / or unsociable hours, a willingness to undertakemoderate (significant at times) travel to sites within the UK, sometimes staying locally forseveral days is essential.
  • Holder of at least one protected species licence preferable but not essential;
  • Holder of a valid CSCS card is preferable but not essential;
  • A full UK driving licence
