The Opportunity
This role is working for a highly recognised University in London who have gone through lots of change, and are setting up a People and Change workstream to support.
Reporting to the HR Change Managers (People Workstream), the role will focus on supporting the employee relations aspects of the integration process, including coordinating individual and collective consultation sessions, and ensuring that employee relations concerns are addressed in line with best practice.
Key Responsibilities
The main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Work as part of the project team to coordinate and facilitate both individual and collective consultation sessions for staff, leading on coordinating the administration and organisation of the various consultation sessions, for example, coordinating meeting times, booking rooms, collating relevant documents, disseminating paperwork to relevant parties, and acting as notetaker for meetings where required.
- Under the guidance of the HR Change Managers, develop and issue appropriate standard letters to staff during the consultation process. Where appropriate, and in close liaison with the HR Change Managers, take ownership for completing actions arising from consultation sessions.
- Under the guidance of the HR Change Managers, provide support for managers in managing concerns about redundancy, redeployment, and related matters that may arise during periods of organisational change, including employee relations and other HR matters as and when required, escalating more complex issues to the HR Change Managers.
- Support the coordination of formal and informal consultations with trade unions, ensuring their involvement in the change process is both productive and transparent, and contribute to the negotiation and consultation efforts, including handling any straightforward collective issues that may arise related to the integration.
- Support the HR Change Managers with the preparation and delivery of relevant communications, including briefing materials and FAQs, liaising with colleagues from across the HR Team and the Change Support Unit as appropriate.
- Under the guidance of the HR Change Managers, contribute to the creation and maintenance of guides, FAQs, and other resources to assist managers and staff during the integration period.
The Successful Candidate
Essential Skills:
- Professionally qualified – either Graduate membership of the CIPD or broad-based business qualification and/or practical HR experience in a range of HR activities including experience in employee relations
- Proven experience of employee relations, change management, or HR project coordination, preferably within a complex, unionised environment, or post-merger integration setting. HE sector desirable
- Experience of creating high quality materials and communications to enable employee and collective consultations processes.
- Up-to-date knowledge and understanding of employment legislation and practice in respect of collective and individual consultation.
- Demonstrable ability to manage sensitive employee relations issues and navigate complex organisational changes.
