An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced pharmacist with a passion for Medicines Information & Medicines Optimisation to join our team asthe Lead Medicines Information, Formulary and Pathways Pharmacist.
We are looking for a highly motivated, forward-thinking, dynamic individual to join our senior team, who is keen to learn, innovate and push the service forward . You will have excellent organisational and people skills and the ability to work with and influence staff within the Trust and across North East London ICS.
In addition to being the lead for MI, they will represent Homerton at the North East London Formulary and Pathways Group (NELFPG) and they will be the secretary of the Trust's Drugs and Therapeutics Committee (DTC). The rolewill be central to ensuring the rapid and efficient implementation of the latest evidence-based guidelines across the Trust for the benefit of patients.
The post holder will provide clinical pharmacy services, be involved in the training and development of trainee pharmacists, technical staff and junior pharmacists and will line manage several staff.
It is expected that the successful applicant will be an experienced clinical pharmacist with a substantial track record providing Medicines Information services, excellent time management skills, a proven ability to introduce new drugs into a formulary and extensive experience providing clinical pharmacy services in a hospital setting. They will have successfully completed a Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or have equivalent hospital pharmacy experience. - Masters degree in Pharmacy
- GPhC registered
- Clinical Pharmacy Diploma
- Evidence of CPD
- Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
- Independent Prescribing qualification (or working towards IP)
- Able to demonstrate a clear understanding of clinical pharmacy practice
- Aptitude for training and motivating others
- To be an effective leader for a small team of pharmacists/technicians
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, and an ability to effectively prioritise
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to problem-solve
- Able to communicate effectively using a variety of methods (written, verbal, presentation) with a range of HCPs and patients.
- Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team
- Able to process complex clinical information in an accurate and timely manner
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of best practice and legal requirements relating to medicines storage and use within Hospital Pharmacy
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office incl. Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Able to take accurate minutes and ability to summarise complex discussions
- Management experience, including carrying out appraisals and sickness management
- Significant relevant experience as a hospital clinical Pharmacist for adult medicine.
- Experience of regular participation in MDT meetings
- Significant experience of working in a Medicines Information service and proficient use of Mi Databank.
- Innovation or service development experience
- Experience of developing and updating SOPs / Policies.
- Experience of staff management
- Teaching and training of pharmacy staff
- Experience dealing with medicines recalls/patient safety alerts
- Experience supporting new drug applications for formulary consideration.
- Audit and report writing experience
