Dean of Sustainability & Corporate Social Responsibility ProfessorIan Montgomery Overview

Professor Ian Montgomery is Dean of Sustainability & Corporate Social Responsibility.

Ian was previously Director of Brexit and Sustainability at the University for several years. Prior to that, he was PVC for Global Engagement during which time he established many international collaborations.

Ian is Professor of Design and has supervised to completion numerous PhDs locally, nationally, and internationally. He was also Dean of the Faculty of Art, Design and the Built Environment from 2008, and was previously Head of the School of Art and Design and Director of the University’s Research Institute for Art and Design.

Ian is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a member of the International Society of Typographic Designers, and the Design Research Society. He has held numerous external examinerships including currently at the University of Mauritius.

Ian has also recently been appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Environmental Association of Universities and Colleges.

He is currently Warden (Chair of the Board of Governors) of Belfast Royal Academy and a Board member of Carrickfergus Grammar School.

He enjoys spending time with his family, walking, repairing, and pottering in his fabulous garden.
