We are delighted to be recruiting for a Cancer Pharmacist to work as part of our Oncology and Haematology Pharmacy teams at The Royal Marsden. You will be supported in gaining focused training in specific tumour types under the guidance of our specialist pharmacists and the wider MDT, across both oncology (solid tumours) and haematology (bloods cancers), as well as in both adult and paediatric settings. This role is key to delivering a high quality SACT service which encompasses the medical day unit, outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, as well as out of hospital SACT delivery and administration. This post will be supporting the multidisciplinary team through regular attendance of outpatient clinics which provides the unique opportunity to be a part of the patient's journey from prescribing of SACT through to administration, working with key stakeholders within pharmacy, nursing and medicine to promote timely delivery of SACT and to continually improve outcomes for our patients.
Provide operational support to the Oncology, Haematology and Paediatric Pharmacy Teams across the three hospital sites on a day-to-day basis (depending on rotation).


~ Provide a clinical pharmacy service to patients ensuring the safe, effective, legal and accurate use of medicines within an allocated clinical unit.


~ To support the development of high-quality clinical pharmacy services, improvement of patient outcomes and experience within the inpatient and outpatient settings across the Trust.

Provide a clinical pharmacy service to the chemotherapy day units and outpatient prescribing clinics.
Support the medical and nursing teams though provision of pharmacy advice and ensure the safe and timely delivery of oncology services
To work across the chemotherapy day units, outpatient departments and clinic areas to clinically check the appropriateness of prescribing and promoting medicines optimisation
Liaise with the pharmacy aseptic, dispensary and clinical teams and the multi-disciplinary team on the day units to ensure an efficient, effective and safe chemotherapy service is provided.
Attend unit meetings if required.
Participate in pharmacy initiatives within the units as appropriate.
Strive for continuous quality improvement through identifying research questions developing and contributing to research to further the medicines optimisation agenda in cancer

MSc/ Diploma Pharmacy Practice or equivalent

Registered non-medical prescriber or willing to work towards this qualification


Demonstrable experience in delivering a clinical pharmacy service to wards / day units
Clinical audit and quality/service improvement projects

Oncology/Haematology Pharmacy experience
Experience of delivering education & training to staff and students

Ability to work alone without direct supervision when required
Awareness of current developments in clinical pharmacy
