United Kingdom The Priory Full time

Mildmay Oaks is a low secure and locked rehabilitation service for adult men and women diagnosed with learning disability and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder. The client population is diverse and includes patients with mental and physical health needs, substance misuse histories, systemic trauma, and forensic histories.

We are looking for a Registered HCPC Psychologist who has experience in working with adults who present with learning disability and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Expectations of the role include prompt response to referrals in undertaking psychological assessments to develop and plan an effective therapy programme for assigned patients as based on a formulation-led approach. The formulation, in collaboration with Multidisciplinary Team (MDT), would inform appropriate and relevant assessments, treatments, activities and interventions as part of that person’s treatment pathway. The ideal candidate would have experience in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and trauma-informed approaches.

The ideal candidate would have experience in completing risk assessments such as the RSVP and HCR-20 V3, and in providing risk based consultation to the MDT. The ideal candidate should have experience in delivering individual and group therapy sessions within the given field of therapy ensuring activities and interventions continue to meet the needs of the client, and are consistent with the provisions detailed in the client’s therapy plan. Main therapeutic modalities on site include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Compassion-Focused Therapy approaches.

The ideal candidate would have good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise. They will be required to manage an assigned caseload within agreed timescales ensuring regular interaction and communication with clients, professional colleagues and clinical staff.

The candidate will be required to maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the form of case notes, case files, clinical reports, computerised information systems and other associated documentation. The candidate will be expected to lead and co-ordinate professional and clinical colleagues, providing psychotherapeutic advice and guidance, and assists with the analysis of statistical data and information for research and audit purposes. There is the expectation that the candidate would be responsible for clinical supervision and line management of an Assistant Psychologist.

Mildmay Oaks Hospital offers a variety of training opportunities as appropriate for colleagues, including training in forensic risk assessments and interventions such as the FIP-MO and A-SOTP, as well as in therapies such as DBT. The Psychology team consists of one Head of Psychology, a Principle Psychologist, and two Assistant Psychologists. The Psychology team works closely with the wider MDT.
