We are looking to recruit an Applied Psychologist to join the Community Team that provides support and intervention for working age adults experiencing mental health difficulties. This is an exciting time to join and be part of the transformation journey that the Community Mental Health Framework (CMHF) brings.

The team covers the South York area and office base is in Selby but we also cover Sherburn-In-Elmet, Tadcaster and Pocklington areas. A full time 37.5 hours post is available but a part time position would be considered as would flexible working arrangements.

We welcome applications from experienced or newly qualified Applied Psychologists who are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist. Undertaking additional training leading to competencies in an evidence based psychological therapy would an opportunity and expectation of the successful candidate. The training would be fully funded, supervised and included in job plan. The post is open to trainee psychologists who are due to qualify this year.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work under the direction and support of the Highly Specialist Applied Psychologist within the community multidisciplinary service. They will be responsible for the delivery of psychological assessment, formulation and evidence- based intervention through direct work and the supervision and consultation of others. They will contribute to the multidisciplinary collective leadership of the team with shared responsibility for ensuring the safety and effectiveness of patient care and shared opportunity to develop the team.

The supervision and development of trainee psychological professionals including doctoral trainees is a key part of the role. We have strong links to the local Doctoral Programmes in Clinical Psychology at Teesside and Hull Universities and the Doctoral Programme in Counselling Psychology at York St John University. There are excellent opportunities for peer support/ supervision, CPD, teaching/ training, research, and audit.

Person Specification Qualification
  • Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS
  • HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
  • Trained in clinical supervision (within agreed timescale)
  • Trained in care co-ordination (within agreed timescale)
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Post-graduate qualification showing evidence of supervised practice in an evidence-based psychological therapeutic model
  • Registration with BPS
Experience
  • Working with mental health
  • Multi-disciplinary team working
  • Experience of CBT, DBT, Psychodynamics, systemic therapy
  • Experience of research and audit
Knowledge
  • Doctoral level knowledge of: Evidence - based practice relevant to the role
