We have an exciting opportunity within the ALS Team. This position will suit a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who is willing to work hard to develop their skills, expertise and knowledge. You will have a real passion for problem solving and a desire to make our Assistive Technology offer one which is outstanding and that enables all our learners, irrespective of need, to reach their potential.

As an Assistive Technology Development Officer you will research appropriate assistive technology, software, hardware and general equipment to meet the needs of the department’s learners and develop an extensive knowledge base of the different types of technology available. Working with a range of learners with learning difficulties and disabilities, you will identify the most appropriate technology/equipment to meet their needs and support the wider ALS team through training and raising awareness cross College. This might mean recommending and delivering training on a particular piece of software, or sourcing a specific piece of furniture for a learner. The role is very varied.

A key part of the role will mean keeping abreast of new developments within the field, carrying out your own research and exploring and recommending new assistive technology and ensuring it is compatible with college systems, helping to diagnose and resolve faults as they occur.

We are looking for an individual with excellent IT skills, (an IT qualification would be beneficial but not imperative) who can demonstrate effective communication skills and an ability to use their own initiative in a variety of situations working proactively to develop the role and the service it provides.

To comply with legislation, you are required to obtain a DBS check for your role. We will be asking Protocol National Ltd/Esafeguarding Ltd to undertake this process on our behalf.
