Job Scope

As a Software Development Manager, you will lead and manage development teams, overseeing the design, development, testing and deployment of high-quality software solutions. Reporting to Head of Technology, you will have a key role between the business stakeholders, Product Managers and the engineering team, driving the development of cutting-edge insurance comparison technologies. ensuring the continuous improvement and maintenance of our websites and applications to meet our customers’ and partners’ needs.

  • Lead and mentor software engineering teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Line manager of software engineers of all levels.
  • Advocate best practices in the software development lifecycle and processes.
  • Advocate and prioritize quality, scalability, and maintainability in code development.
  • Technically engaged with the teams and be part of the engineering decisions.
  • Drive team performance and productivity. Identify and implement process improvements and engineering best practices to enhance software development efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Partnership Managers and Stakeholders to align product roadmaps with business strategy.
  • Facilitate feedback from business stakeholders and incorporate it into the development process.
  • Works closely with the operational teams to highlight any business process changes or resource requirements in advance.

Skills & Education

  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and guide software professionals.
  • Proficiency in software development processes, technologies, and agile methodologies.
  • Proficiency with Continuous Delivery best practices.
  • Knowledge of security requirements and data handling regulations.
  • Customer facing digital projects experience.
  • Solid experience in stakeholder management.
  • Manage and execute against delivery plans and commitments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and effective communication, interpersonal, and mentoring abilities.
  • A positive team-oriented approach and culture-building capabilities.
  • Previous line management and performance management experience.
  • Background working within financial services or regulated environment is desirable.
  • Experience in using Cloud technologies, particularly Microsoft Azure is desirable.
  • Experience in Microsoft development stack is desirable.
  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
