We are Hestia. We make a difference.
At Hestia, we are guided by our core values and are dedicated to fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation. We provide a range of services, including Domestic Abuse support, Modern Slavery assistance, Mental Health & Complex Needs care, and Criminal Justice. Our mission is to empower individuals to rebuild their lives and achieve independence.
The service you will work in….
Empower a caseload of service users to manage their health and wellbeing. As part of a team, you will support a staffing rota offering support to service users between the hours of 8am-10pm Mon-Sun each week. In collaboration with your team, you will actively monitor wellbeing, mental health, housing and living environment to ensure service users journey into independence. Moreover, you will take a solution focused and co-produced approach to supporting service users with their move-on into independent living.
A day in this role looks like….
As a Support Worker at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Criminal Justice Service. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.
A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:
- Empower service users to engage effectively in their liaisons with professionals within the community such as community mental health teams, social work teams, housing providers, other health, employment and training professionals.
- Aid other professionals in the continuous assessment of service users placements and support needs, advocating for service users when they need to step up or down into the appropriate support, and across their journey into independence.
- Work flexibly as part of a team to ensure service coverage and that contractual obligations are met.
- Develop co-produced group activities, peer support networks and other community-based approaches to empowering service users to achieve their goals and aspirations and to encourage service users to access such opportunities
- You will encourage service users to develop support networks in the local community and help them engage in meaningful activities (including managing volunteers and befrienders for your caseload).
- Ensure referrals, assessments and service reviews are effective and timely.
- Actively monitor the health, wellbeing, safety and security of the service and its users ensuring all concerns are followed up promptly and in line with procedures.
- Participate in the core work of the service, providing support to colleagues, carrying out tasks allocated by the management team and using initiative to identify and deal with additional tasks as they arise.
- Ensure that administration is done in good time; that detailed, concise and accurate records are created contemporaneously and that confidentiality is appropriately maintained
- Carry out duties, in line with organisational policies and procedures
- Empower a caseload of clients to manage their health and wellbeing, maintain their independence, identify their strengths and achieve their goals and aspirations.
- Empower service users to develop independent living skills as part of a planned move on process.
Why Hestia?
Joining Hestia means more than just a job; it's an opportunity to be part of something bigger. We offer a supportive, inclusive and resolution driven work environment where your contributions are recognised and valued. As a member of our team, you will have the chance to grow both personally and professionally while making a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve.
We are looking for candidates who bring a combination of passion, expertise, and dedication to the table. To excel in this role, you should possess:
- Experience of working with people with mental health and / or dual diagnosis issues in a paid or voluntary role
- The ability to learn quickly, gather information and make decisions
