Market Abuse Associate
Location: London
Reports To: Head of Compliance
The Market Abuse Associate will play a crucial role in supporting the firm's efforts to identify, investigate, and mitigate potential market abuse activities. This position involves daily trade surveillance, conducting in-depth investigations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements to uphold market integrity.
Key Responsibilities:

Trade Surveillance:
Conduct daily trade surveillance using the firm’s automated tools to monitor trading activities.
Investigate alerts and potential instances of market abuse in a timely and efficient manner.
Identify and escalate risks, issues, and discrepancies to the Head of Compliance and MLRO (Money Laundering Reporting Officer) for secondary review.

Investigation:
Perform detailed investigations into suspected market abuse, including insider trading, market manipulation, and other improper activities.
Accurately document investigation findings and outcomes, providing expert insight and technical assistance for further investigation if needed.
Draft and prepare Suspicious Transaction and Order Reports (STORs) for submission to relevant regulators, such as the FCA.

Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies related to market abuse.
Maintain the Market Abuse Risk Assessment and assist in drafting and updating relevant policies and procedures.
Conduct reviews in accordance with the Compliance Monitoring Plan.
Assist in responding to regulatory inquiries and audits related to market abuse issues.

Collaboration and Communication:
Build and maintain relationships with the Front Office and other internal stakeholders to facilitate effective investigation and resolution of market abuse alerts.
Communicate operational issues and findings from trade surveillance activities to relevant stakeholders promptly.
Create and deliver training sessions on market abuse and related compliance topics to the business as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

~ Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, Business, or a related field.
~1+ years of experience in compliance monitoring and surveillance, preferably within the financial services industry.
~ Strong knowledge of market abuse regulation and conduct regulatory requirements.
~ Good working knowledge of various financial products, including equities, equity derivatives, FX, and ETFs.
~ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
~ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
~ Ability to work independently and as part of a small, cohesive team.
~ A calm and methodical approach to troubleshooting issues in a pressured environment.
~ Ability to cooperate with regulatory bodies such as the FCA and PRA.
