Key Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed and realistic matte paintings that match the style and vision of the project.
  • Integrate matte paintings with live-action plates and CG elements.
  • Work with 2D and 3D projection techniques to create depth and parallax in matte paintings.
  • Collaborate with other departments to achieve the desired look.
  • Troubleshoot and solve technical issues related to matte painting and projection techniques.
  • Follow established workflows and maintain consistent quality throughout the production process.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Digital Matte Painter in the VFX industry.
  • Strong proficiency in Photoshop and other digital painting tools.
  • Experience with 3D software such as Maya, Nuke, or similar.
  • Ability to work with 2D and 3D projection techniques.
  • Strong understanding of perspective, lighting, and colour theory.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce photorealistic work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
