An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new post within secure care based within FIRST. The role is focused on the delivery and development of substance interventions as part of individualised recovery plans.


You will be required to demonstrate an understanding of secure care, with a sound knowledge base of the complexities of working with co-existing mental illness and problematic substance use.


The post will require cross site working and into community settings across the region, working closely with a range of teams in the development and implementation of care pathways. The post holder will also be expected to participate in the delivery of training and education of others.
To work closely with the Clinical Nurse Specialists Substance Use Practitioners and wider team/s to achieve high quality, evidence-based, integrated, recovery orientated support. To ensure the delivery of services that meet FIRST team objectives for optimal mental health, physical health and social well-being.


To encourage positive therapeutic retention and engagement in support offered, with clear recovery goals which focus on sustainable recovery, integration and planned discharge from secure services and FIRST.


To provide evidence based relapse prevention interventions and onward referral to partners, other relevant partnership agencies, peer mentors and sign posting to mutual aid groups where appropriate/identified in recovery and support plans.

Relevant post registration experience managing a caseload in a multi disciplinary team within a health environment
Good knowledge of recovery based models within drug/alcohol use
Excellent knowledge of drug/alcohol treatment systems that make up an integrated recovery model.
