Service Manager

We are looking to recruit a Service Manager for the Family Health Division. You will be responsible for the day to day operational management of the Paediatric and Obstetric & Gynecological services.
The role is an ideal opportunity for an inspirational, motivated and driven individual to formally act as Service Manager ensuring smooth running of the services for compliance with National targets including the 18 week RTT and cancer targets, financial and performance metrics.
You will act as a point of escalation for day to day operational issues within these services. You will be supported by two Patient Pathway Managers who you will work closely with to address issues in a timely manner.
You will be working closely with the Divisional and Deputy Director for Family Health, Clinical Directors, Heads of Nursing and Clinical Teams. You will therefore need excellent communication skills and the confidence to engage with Consultants and senior staff, challenge practice and make decisions taking responsibility for their outcomes.
o Responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of service or services. Including being the escalation point for any operational issues relating to the services and addressing them in a timely manner.
o Responsible for development of specialty service plans that are consistent with the strategic aims and objectives of the Trust.
o Responsible alongside the Deputy Divisional Director and Divisional Director for capacity planning and negotiation/delivery of divisions' performance agreement.
o Ensure business cases are produced for service developments taking account of, activity, income projections and appropriate service models as part of the business case process.
o Responsible for development and implementation of the service and business unit policies.
o Responsible for action in relation to business/organisational solutions on performance including liaising with other services/providers e.g., theatres and cancer services.
o Manage and co-ordinate administration processes to enable effective monitoring and performance managements of all access and activity targets e.g., RTT, Cancer and Diagnostics.

Relevant experience in a significant operational management post within the NHS
Knowledge and understanding of the duties imposed on the trust by legislation, NHS policy and priorities and the requirement of corporate governance
A clear understanding of the modernisation agenda, the opportunities for redesigning services and the tools and techniques for achieving service change
Proven success in managing operational change, whilst maintaining high standards of quality
Significant experience of financial management, budget setting, monitoring, and determining corrective actions.
Involved at a leadership level for issues related to clinical governance monitoring and standard setting, extending this into risk management and health and safety.
Experience in working in different sectors of healthcare
Collecting and analysing data to support the management of clinical practice for a wide range of applications including clinical audit, resource, planning and target setting
Proven success in business planning and in the development and effective implementation of complex strategic plans
Evidence of creative and inspiration approach to problem solving
Implement and support new initiatives and actively suggest improvements/change when appropriate
Ability to coach staff in ways that enable good team building
Ability to communicate at all levels within the organisation both orally and in writing
