A Senior Chartered Structural Engineer. This is the opportunity for the right person to take an active role in the consultancy with enormous potential for personal development and growth. The owner plans to take a step back within the next two years offering an exclusive opportunity for the right person to benefit from years of experience developing a sound, well-organised, rapidly growing business.

We are seeking a self-motivated team member and future leader who is keen to work on exceptional residential projects. The successful candidate will be pivotal in the development of the business, working closely with the company’s owner. Good technical knowledge and ability over a wide range of disciplines, including foundations, timber, masonry and steel will be required. In addition, the capability to problem solve, take responsibility and work collaboratively with external teams is essential. This level of professional skill needs to be complemented with a degree of curiosity and enterprise to take the business to the next level.

Business development is key to the success of Erigo and the Senior Chartered Structural Engineer will take a pro-active role is sourcing and securing new business.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

· Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer.

· At least three years post chartered experience in structural design of steel, concrete, timber structures and foundations.

· Track record of producing cost-effective and well-coordinated design.

· Experience with 3D BIM modelling using Revit.

· Working knowledge of Autocad to facilitate transfer of information.

· Able to work independently and lead on projects.

· Accuracy and attention to detail is essential.

· Knowledge of Building Regulations.

· Good interpersonal and communication skills

· Evidence of producing practical and buildable solutions.

· Some site experience would be preferred.

· Tangible business development experience.

This is an opportunity to work alongside and learn from an accomplished Civil Engineer, with a breadth of experience from 25 years running his own practice following 16 years serving with The Royal Engineers.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

The ideal candidate will have an agile approach to both structural engineering and business, with the ability to work on all aspects of the business as a pivotal member of a small team. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential, demonstrating the capacity to provide advice to architects, developers, individual clients and team members, building confidence and direction in their decision-making.

Tangible experience of business and client relationship development is essential for success in this role. Enthusiastic, reliable and independent, the candidate will be confident, competent and grounded, with considerable personal ambition for development.

Driving licence and own car is required, standard mileage rate on client business will be paid.

Formerly known as Stephen Evans Associates, the lead consultant, Stephen Evans has been consulting for over 25 years. The company has a reputation for delivering cost effective professional solutions and invaluable on-site support. Working on remarkable projects with some of the leading architects in the Southeast, Erigo offers clients added value based on a wealth of experience in the build environment. The successful candidate would be expected to hit the ground running and blend with the existing team well.

We are looking for a special person to take a pivotal role in the development of the business, share options and opportunity to take on ownership or management of the business in time.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Flexible working is available, with a requirement to work a minimum of 22 hours a week from the Erigo offices. Our emphasis is on getting the job done, rather than being in the office. As a family run business, we understand the need for flexibility around family or other commitments without one compromising the other. Ideally living not more than an hour’s commute from Stonegate/Ticehurst in East Sussex.
