The planning team is passionate about creating harmonious spaces that benefit the environment and local communities. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Town Planner to join a growing team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in shaping the future of rural planning in North Yorkshire and beyond. You will be involved in a diverse range of projects, from residential and commercial developments to agricultural and heritage projects. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate planning applications, appeals, and related documentation.
  • Conduct site appraisals, feasibility studies, and environmental impact assessments.
  • Liaise with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders to provide expert planning advice.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports and recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant planning legislation and policies.
  • Contribute to the development of planning strategies and policy documents.
  • Represent clients at planning committee meetings and public consultations.
Requirements:
  • A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline.
  • Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or working towards chartered status.
  • 3 plus years in the private sector
  • Proven experience in a planning role, preferably within a rural or consultancy setting.
  • Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in the use of planning software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • A valid UK driving license and willingness to travel to site locations as required.
