Marine Engineer - Diesel Engines

LOCATION: Embankment, London

REPORTS TO: Marine Director

-- MISSION –

Our client is a well-established and renowned river cruise company that has been operating on the Thames for over 160 years and their fleet consists of multiple boats. They are currently looking for a Diesel Engineer to join the crew. They are looking for someone with a keen interest and strong technical knowledge of diesel engines and passionate about boats and water would be a plus.

The potential candidate will perform routine-based maintenance services, ensure that all aspects of diesel engines are taken care of before, during, and after any event, and put preventive measures in place to ensure that the clients' and crew's health and safety are always prioritised. Previous experience with diesel engines (diesel-powered trains - truck, bus, generators is a must, working on marine diesel engines would be ideal).

Previous marine industry experience is preferred but not required.

-- RESPONSIBILITIES –

  • Mechanical engineering (service and diagnosis of diesel engines, for example)
  • Providing overall boat maintenance services across a wide range of marina support (Winterising, Plumbing, diesel heating systems, etc).
  • Take responsibility for health and safety in all aspects of your role.
  • Driving vessels under the supervision of the Captain
  • Leading and inspiring colleagues in developing their technical knowledge and understanding

-- REQUIREMENTS –

  • Experience with diesel-driven engine or generator maintenance
  • Lives within commutable distance to Embankment, London
  • Team player and positive attitude
  • Willing to work overtime with some evenings during events on the boats
  • An interest in spending times on the Thames
