Behind Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) is a remarkable tech team, helping to keep the UK safe. As a National Desktop & Field Engineer, you’ll join this unique unit in an exceptionally challenging role. It’s a fast-paced, diverse environment where your tech skills will be crucial. Our team is determined to protect the country. Are you? Join us in this fulfilling role and you’ll be supporting CTP across the UK and overseas. Your main task will be to manage problems with a range of hardware including cryptographic devices. Our portfolio is mainly off the shelf but rest assured you’ll get the training to handle bespoke tech. You’ll also get the chance to work with the Desktop Manager, Field Support Team Leader and the wider technical/project teams. Day to day, you’ll take ownership of hardware faults, liaising with hardware users and resolution teams. You’ll need to explain technical issues clearly, so concise communication will be key. We’re also looking for the ability to uphold excellent working practices, improve Field Support processes and shape leaner, more efficient systems. Even the smallest of improvements could make all the difference. This role will see you dealing with ICT incidents and Changes and Service Requests, often via remote assistance. Strong technical expertise is therefore essential, including knowledge of toolsets such as SCCM and Service Now, and ideally ITIL. However, collaboration and organisational skills will be just as important in this key role. A natural problem solver, you’ll support colleagues and be adept at resolving ICT incidents, Changes and Service Requests. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Developed Vetting (DV) level before taking up the post. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties.
