Transition Learning Centre Manager - The Cornerstone Academy

Suitable for - Higher Level Teaching Assistant/ Learning Support Assistant

Specific focus in supporting students in their social emotional mental health during the transition period to secondary school.

Start date: Summer or Autumn 2024

Hours: 35 hours per week – ideally 8am – 3.30pm

Starting Salary: Full Time Equivalent £25,000 / Pro rata Actual salary £20,133 to Full Time Equivalent £28,500 / Pro rata Actual salary £22,952 depending on experience

Contract type: Permanent

Term time only, 38 school weeks plus training days

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Transition Learning Centre Manager to join the team to:

  • Be a consistent and supportive member of staff to lead the transition programme for a small group of young people as they transition into secondary school.
  • Embed routines and good learning habits for students in the transition learning centre so they can successfully integrate into secondary school classrooms.
  • Support the transition learning centre students to access the national ks3 curriculum.
  • Implement small group sessions to develop students areas of development, this can include zones of regulation, emotional literacy and cognition and learning support. (Training will be provided as necessary).
  • Lead on students individual learning plans and contribute to annual reviews.
  • Work closely with external professionals and parents to develop the transition learning centres students to be secondary school ready.
  • With closely with the SEND team through the year to fully integrate year 7 students during the transition process including year 6 transition.

This role would suit a qualified HLTA or an individual looking to further their career in this area. Training will be provided to ensure a proven programme is being followed.

About you, the ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience of working with students with SEN
  • Have good organisational, planning, evaluation and monitoring skills
  • Be flexible and willing to learn
  • Be able to work pro-actively and effectively with small student groups
  • Be proactive in their CPD

You will be helping to improve the progress and achievement of our students and ensuring the development and implementation of the school’s safeguarding, behaviour and anti-bullying policies, in order to support students’ ability to self-regulate their behaviour; you will be part of a team that is child focused and changes young people’s lives through care and education.
