Main Duties Act as a tutor in Inclusion and Support with students with identified learning difficulties or behavioural difficulties. In addition, work with the Inclusion and Support Leader to identify students in the classroom, in a variety of areas. Work closely with the Inclusion and Support Coordinators to advise on the deployment of support, range of need and resourcing. Main Purpose of the Job 2 x 30 hours a week 1 x 15 hours a week Specific Duties: To deliver and plan the out of class support, specialist assessments and reviews. To undertake the teaching of SEN students with Education Health and Care Plans, across the range of SEN needs and ages, and particularly those learners with Autistic Spectrum Disorders and other related conditions. To give specific learning and personal development support to learners with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) according to their needs outlined in their plan. The support could relate to behavioural, emotional or social needs which impact on learning. To provide a quality of teaching and learning provision that can be judged to be at least ‘good’ (according to the Ofsted evaluation framework) and ensures all students make at least good progress. Attend statutory annual reviews or other related meetings, such as Looked After Child, regarding students with SEN, which will involve reviewing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) Be accountable for the attainment and progress of all students who are taught by the postholder as well as driving impact of the team. Produce student SEN passports, monitor student social communication development, contribute to provision mapping and annual reviews for students. Support staff training to meet the needs of the students in the mainstream setting. Develop and adapt conventional teaching methods to meet individual needs. Use special equipment and facilities, such as audio-visual materials and computers to stimulate interest in learning. Collaborate with the classroom teacher to define appropriate activities for learners in relation to the curriculum. Liaise with other professionals, such as social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, and education psychologists. Work closely with parents and guardians. To provide pastoral support and guidance for all students in the postholder’s care, classes, or tutor group. To contribute to the overall development work of the teaching and learning area team. Curriculum & Quality To provide support teaching on a range of courses across the College, as well as, creating links between curriculum and support in order to gain a holistic picture of progress for supported students. To liaise with the Curriculum Teacher over the curriculum, your support to students and implement curriculum and course development within the area of work. To develop own learning programmes/materials in line with aims, objectives, mode of assessment and accreditation and to collate and monitor schemes of work. To monitor and evaluate student progress and achievement and to keep accurate and updated curriculum and student records, including register, reports, assessment records, statistical data and course files. To provide curriculum and student information and statistics as required by the College. To work with the curriculum team to review the curriculum and ensure the College quality assurance cycle is implemented. To attend and participate in regular course team meetings and to offer support or feedback on student support or progress. Student To work with admissions and the Inclusion and Support Leader in setting up interviews for students and to implement enrolment and induction programmes. To meet students regularly on an individual basis to discuss academic progress, and to support students in their choice of progression routes. To identify students requiring extra support and refer them appropriately. To take up issues of equal opportunities and other quality issues regarding the College that are raised by students. To monitor attendance, timekeeping, homework etc., and to deal with those students who are not performing to required standards. To implement established student disciplinary procedures as necessary, in line with quality procedures and equal opportunities. To coordinate termly reports on students and to write references as required. To respond to enquiries or advocate on behalf of students in dealing with other agencies e.g., Refugee Council, other Colleges, crèche etc. To support and promote the transition of students by working with parents/carers and external agencies as appropriate and provide pastoral care. To liaise with Careers and other external agencies to ensure that students are fully informed about future choices.
