Job Description

Background

Waypoint is the end-to-end solution for purchasing raw materials in international markets, focusing on fertilizers. The vast majority of transactions in the archaic $4 trillion chemical industry are still happening offline, leaving buyers exposed to inefficiencies and vulnerability. Our mission is to drive global commodity trade and enhance supply chain security through a unique combination of experienced people and advanced proprietary technology.

Key Responsibilities

Following a successful venture fundraising round, Waypoint is scaling its business development efforts and seeking an ambitious Fertilizer Trader to drive new business. In this role, you will:

  • Develop and implement strategies to build relationships with new and existing buyers, originating back-to-back trades across various fertilizer commodities.
  • Continuously assess and refine business development strategies based on data-driven insights.
  • Prepare and communicate commercial offers, and manage contract drafting, reviewing, and amendments for clarity and compliance.
  • Drive adoption of the Waypoint platform for new and existing clients.
  • Stay updated on industry trends to seize new growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to enhance current processes and develop new ones.
  • Work closely with the product team to improve the user experience of our platform.

Key Requirements

  • Sales Experience: Minimum of 4 years in front-office roles, including sales, trading, or brokerage, specifically with fertilizers and related raw materials.
  • Operations Experience: At least 2 years in back-office operations, covering finance, document management, logistics, or similar functions in physical commodity sales, trading, or import/export.
  • Network: Access to a substantial network of buyers to introduce to Waypoint, driving new business initiatives.
  • Business Acumen: Demonstrated ability to identify new opportunities, effectively manage a sales pipeline, and deliver measurable results. A results-driven mentality with a strong focus on achieving KPIs is crucial.
  • Negotiation Skill Set: Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of effectively closing deals.
  • Entrepreneurial Mindset: Highly adaptable to fast-paced environments, with a strong inclination for teamwork in a diverse, startup-like setting.
  • Location: Remote position based in Europe, requiring frequent trips to London for team collaboration and additional business travel.
  • Languages: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in additional languages is highly beneficial.
