If you have experience of working with asylum seekers or refugees and a strong grasp of legislation surrounding homelessness, this is your opportunity to make an impact and drive change as part of our client’s supportive organisation.

You will be enabled to make a real difference to the lives of refugees, helping them rebuild their lives as part of a passionate team committed to social justice and creating lasting, positive change.

You will join a supportive and mission-driven environment and contribute to a cause that goes beyond just accommodation, focusing on holistic support and empowerment for refugees.

The Role

As a Housing Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the housing and income team to ensure tenants' well-being and financial stability.

Specifically, you will seek to reduce void properties and help vulnerable refugee tenants maintain their tenancies.

Assisting the Team Leader and Housing Income Officer with tenant assessments, you will make accommodation offers and sign-up new tenants. You will help manage and maximise property rental income and ensure service charges are within agreed budgets.

In this role, you will aid in estate management services, including settling in visits for new tenants and conducting property inspections. Liaising with the cleaning team, you will ensure estates are clean and presentable, report issues and investigate tenancy problems such as anti-social behaviour.

Additionally, your role will involve:

- Handling complaints promptly and effectively, resolving issues where possible
- Negotiating debt payment arrangements based on tenant income and expenditure

About You

To be considered as a Housing Officer, you will need:

- Experience of working with asylum seekers or refugees in a voluntary or paid capacity

- Knowledge of the Homelessness Legislation particularly the 2002 Homelessness Act
- Organisational skills in terms of service planning, prioritising work, time management, effective use of resources and performance evaluation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes pressurised environment
- To be comfortable and able to deal with individuals or subject matter that can be emotive and demanding

The closing date for this role is the 7th August 2024.
