Deputy Chief Nursing Information Officer

As the Deputy CNIO, the post holder will provide professional nursing expertise for Digital Nursing. They will support providers and local systems to drive service improvement and work to ensure nurses and midwives have the knowledge and skills to practice and lead in a digitally enabled health and social care system, now and in the future, and nursing practice is fully supported using digital technology and data science.

They will be a credible clinical and digital nursing leader and will champion and uphold the values of the organisation, working closely with the nursing team and across the organisation’s directorates and regions.

The post holder will work as part of the Digital Nursing Team within the Digital Clinical Informatics Team in supporting delivery of national work in collaboration with the regions, service providers, and suppliers in all settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop an understanding of the gaps that currently exist within digital nursing, with specific focus on practice and research.
  2. Work with others to agree how best to deliver improvements that demonstrably drive quality (safety, effectiveness, and experience) up.
  3. Form a strong link with all resulting work and organisational objectives ensuring alignment.
  4. Accountable for developing and delivering strategy, promoting innovation, and supporting operational excellence in the organisation.
  5. Lead the digital nursing programme, ensuring alignment with the core digital nursing vision.
  6. Develop a plan for the delivery of the role’s responsibilities including identifying interdependencies, managing risks, modelling the potential impacts on the wider organisation, determining resource requirements, and building in contingency where necessary.
  7. Contribute to the organisation’s strategic planning process and delivery of priorities and manage consequential adjustments to activities responsible for as required.
  8. Ensure that best practice for digital nursing is developed and delivered at organisational and departmental levels.
  9. Devise, manage, and update policies and procedures, ensuring the adoption of best practice methodology, rules, standards, and thresholds.
