Reporting to the Patient Safety Lead, this post forms part of the Patient Safety Team to support the delivery of the Trust's Quality Strategy and vision to ensure 'Excellent Care for all' through the delivery of safe, effective and high quality services, that ensure the people who use our services, their families, carers and visitors receive a positive experience.


Delivering the day to day systems and processes to support effective patient safety across the Trust, providing support and information to staff to deliver trust wide systems and processes.
Supporting a culture that improves quality by enabling the delivery of high quality care through the effective identification of lessons/areas for improvement and promotion of learning as a result of data analysis and investigation, using audit and evaluation cycles to seek assurance.

Patient Safety Officer (Band 5)

it is focused on supporting effective patient safety systems, to enable staff to report, analyze and learn from incidents, and respond effectively to safety alerts. Croydon Health Services NHS Trust provide hospital and community services from a number of community and specialist clinics throughout Croydon.


These include:o Croydon University Hospitalo Purley Hospitalo The Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Centre in Thornton Heatho Community bases at Purley, Sanderstead, New Addington, Broad Green, Woodsideo A minor injuries unit in New AddingtonThe Trust was formed on 1st August 2010 through the integration of Croydon Community Health Services and Mayday Healthcare NHS Trust. Data Analysis and Information
Knowledge of using a database and making judgements about the data entered
Experience of reporting against Performance indicators and quality metrics and producing reports

Working knowledge of Data Protection issues

Patient Safety
Knowledge of NHS Quality and Patient Safety acquired through training and experience


Knowledge of risk management


Understanding of the healthcare environment in both acute and community settings
