Position Summary :

The Medical Assistant will be a part of the WestBridge Medical Team. As part of the team, the Medical Assistant will provide care to Westbridge participants, assist the nurses and providers in the medical team, and collaborate with the clinical teams as directed by the psychiatric providers. Medical Assistants are multi-skilled health professionals responsible for performing administrative and clinical tasks in our Residential care facility and outpatient programs (Community Integration Program, Extension of services) while delivering outstanding customer service and maintaining positive participant engagement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Provide direct care to participants in Westbridge residential care or outpatient programs such as vital signs, obtaining urine specimens for drug screening and administering Breathalyzers, structured questionnaires and assessments, and medication treatment, including injectables.
  • Supports participants to medical, dental, and wellness related appointments, when those appointments require specific medical collaboration, as indicated by the Westbridge providers
  • Collaborates internally with the medical team, is part of medical team meetings and supports the work of nurses and providers, such as providing medication refills, REMS support, PDMP checks, and other
  • Collaborates internally with the clinical teams by sharing relevant information and participating to periodic meetings
  • Collaborates with pharmacies and insurance companies as indicated, to support prior authorizations for medications prescribed by Westbridge providers, support and document evaluations required by insurance companies to authorize residential stays
  • Collaborates with external providers as directed
  • Completes documentation (ie; Electronic Medical Record, electronic timecard, expense reports, online trainings, etc.) filing, and chart maintenance in a timely manner and in accordance with company policy.
  • Ensure program compliance with local, state and federal regulations. These include but are not limited to confidentiality, medication storage, administration and disposal.
  • Protect patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal, medical and financial information per HIPAA and 42 CFR part II.
  • Participates in open, direct, solution-focused, communication with participants, families and team members.
  • Represents WestBridge in a professional, courteous, healthy and positive manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

  • Valid NH Medical Assistant Certification, in good standing.
  • Completion of a Board approved medication administration program conducted by a Board approved Registered Nurse
  • Minimum of two years MA experience ; experience with working with people with mental illness and addiction preferred
  • Ability to carry out instruction and accurately document medical information.
  • Ability to work and communicate with others.
  • Knowledge and experience in the treatment of mental illness and substance-abusing populations as appropriate.
  • Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations governing confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates a high standard of professional conduct and ethical behavior that will enhance the quality of care and encourage positive interactions among staff.
  • Valid drivers’ license and appropriate vehicle insurance coverage of: 100,000 bodily injury per person/300,000 bodily injury per accident/100,000 property damage.
  • Successful pre-employment drug screening with negative results required.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Background Screening results.
  • Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Records results.
  • Active Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification required or a plan for timely completion.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
  • Computer skills including but not limited to, Internet access, word processing, report writing and spreadsheet applications necessary to generate appropriate reports allocated to the position .
