As our Head of Health & Safety, you will have the opportunity to lead the charge in developing and implementing cutting-edge strategies to mitigate risks and foster a culture of safety across our organisation.

You'll need to be someone who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and dive into our communities, whilst also providing strong leadership and direction; shaping our overall health and safety initiatives for our residents and colleagues.

You'll have the opportunity to blend the best of both worlds, spending approximately 2-3 days per week in the office with the remainder being from the comfort of your own home. During your probation and training, we may request more office presence to ensure you feel fully supported and equipped for success. Your well-being and confidence in your role are paramount to us, and we're committed to providing the flexibility you need to excel. Of course if you'd prefer to be in the office more, then that is completely fine with us too

Your responsibilities (but not limited to)...

  • Unleash your creativity and expertise to craft and implement PA's Health & Safety Strategy in collaboration with the Senior Management Team.
  • Serve as the go-to expert on all health & safety matters within PA Housing, representing the company with stakeholders.
  • Define company safety objectives and monitor their achievement throughout the year.
  • Drive a safety culture across all levels of the organisation through effective communication and engagement.
  • Dive deep into the heart of our communities, leading fire risk assessments and ensuring swift, decisive action to protect our homes and residents.
  • Take the lead in investigating incidents and accidents, transforming setbacks into opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Update and review H&S policies, procedures, risk assessments, and safe working practices in consultation with colleagues.
  • Ensure compliance with all health & safety laws and regulations, staying abreast of changes and providing guidance on their application.
  • Monitor safety performance trends, identify areas for improvement, and develop action plans in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain a comprehensive safety risk register and develop mitigation plans to reduce risk levels.
  • Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally, including regulatory bodies.

Our ideal candidate...

  • Holds a NEBOSH Diploma and Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH), accompanied by a relevant degree-level qualification.
  • Brings 5+ years of previous experience in a strategic health & safety position, with a track record of influencing senior stakeholders and Board Level.
  • Demonstrates adaptability in communication styles and the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Proven track record in managing M&E and H&S compliance within the social housing sector or private industry.
  • Familiarity with the Academy Housing Management system, leveraging its capabilities to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
