Knitwear Product Developer Assistant/Merchandiser

Excellent opportunity has arisen for an assistant knitted textile product developer, to work directly in a knitwear factory where the full design, develop, production is done in house.



It is ideal for someone who has a passion for the full knitwear production processes on a fast commercial level.


Role will initially be a temporary role with a view to make it permanent.


Both experienced and new graduates can apply for the role.


Ideal candidate would have specialised in knitwear during undergraduate degree.


Some aspects of the role include


Product Design and Research - researching current trends, liaising with buyers for feedback and gaining an understanding customer requirements.


Product Development - liaising closely with our knitwear technicians to develop patterns on Shima Seiki APEX design system and knitting machines.

Ensuring products are commercially viable but also to customer requirements. You will have input on gauge, stitches, yarn etc.


Merchandising - managing critical path, making booking requests etc. box stickers, deliveries notes etc.


Account Management - keeping in constant contact with customer buyers, designers, merch teams, relaying messages to the appropriate factory members, whilst learning how to deal with enquiries.


Garment Tech - Updating spec libraries, attending customer fit sessions and ensuring production have correct spec's. fitting samples and ensuring production samples are to spec and logged.


Factory Production Management - ensuring production is on schedule,


Skills required.


  • A highly motivated and technical minded individual.
  • A confident individual Willing to mix with all teams within the business and ask questions
  • A high level communicator with internal teams where English is not always a first language, retail clients and suppliers.
  • Highly methodical and well organised, able to prioritise workload to meet set deadlines.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and problem solve.
  • Great time management skills and ability to multi task.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Computer literate is essential an understanding of Microsoft 365 and Windows.
  • A quick learner under a fast paced environment.
  • Most importantly a passion for knitwear
