A leading manufacturer of personal care and homecare products are looking to hire a regulatory manager to their UK based team.


The successful applicant will enjoy the benefits of a remote based role with occasional travel to the office for meetings, and will bring dedicated, specialist knowledge of regulations from the personal care, homecare or even the biocides industry.


Key responsibilities:

  • To provide regulatory and product safety leadership in support of existing business and new project initiatives whilst ensuring that the company product portfolio is legally compliant in all relevant markets.
  • To manage the compliance of new categories of product such as OTC, (as and when they enter the portfolio) with the appropriate regulations in all relevant markets, meeting the required timescales.
  • Leverage extensive knowledge and prior expertise in providing regulatory strategies/plans for our branded product portfolio within the UK, EMEA & ASEAN as well as other international regions whilst identifying compliance needs for each target market.
  • Oversee and optimise current regulatory and product safety processes, including input into project regulatory strategies, product safety reviews/testing, notifications, safety and regulatory documentation (including MSDS’s, CFS’s and other supporting export documentation), artwork and claims review, and ongoing monitoring of the regulatory landscape
  • Manage the requirements of new & additional regulations and assess their impact to the business, ensuring a smooth transition by developing a stakeholder communication (both internal & external) & leading a multifunctional stakeholder team to deliver the implementation plan.
  • Evaluate and clearly communicate to the R&D Director any identified regulatory risks/gaps and trade-offs for the product/project portfolio and develop mitigation/contingency plans for identified risks
  • Represent the Company in dealings with Regulatory & advertising authorities, Government Bodies, Customers, Trade Associations, Suppliers and Consultants ensuring that a professional regulatory support service is provided.
  • Liaison with relevant authorities for product categorisation, compliance and Marketing Authorisations
  • To analyse and execute all statutory reporting requirements and to assist in the Cosmetovigilance process.
  • Lead the development of and enhance the visibility of the impact of Regulatory topics to effect positive culture change throughout the organization and provide internal awareness raising sessions.


Skills, experience and qualifications:

  • Scientific degree or equivalent (ideally in chemistry or related subject)
  • Extensive knowledge of cosmetic, household and Biocidal regulations in the UK, EMEA & ASEAN regions
  • Extensive knowledge of REACH and CLP regulations
  • Expertise in and a detailed understanding of product safety requirements for consumer & OTC products, including raw material/formula assessments and testing requirements
  • Must have 5+ years’ experience in the Cosmetic, Household, OTC and Biocidal product sectors (ideally but not necessarily all) with a well-established network of industry connections
