Role Summary:
The role of Group Financial Controller will be a key component of the Business Segment Finance Leadership Team and will be responsible for and lead all financial reporting, financial compliance, financial controls, and balance sheet management for Nidec Drives.
With a focus of enforcing Nidec accounting policy and processes across the Nidec Drives sub-segments, the Group Financial Controller will drive excellent trade working capital, treasury, business tax and cash management. As well as ensuring business financial integrity, and maximising cash performance.
The Group Financial Controller will lead the Global Reporting and Controls team and will strongly influence all Finance teams within the Drives business segment, whilst holding wider authority to approve financial and other transactions across the business segment in line with the DOA.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and Controls:
- Lead the financial reporting function across the Nidec Drives business segment.
- Ensure that statutory financial reporting requirements and deadlines are met for all sub-business segments.
- Ensure that a robust financial controls infrastructure is in place across the business segment.
- Lead and manage the Nidec Drives internal and external audit programs.
- Working with IT, ownership of the Financial ERP systems and BCP reporting tool to ensure that they are functionally operative and meet the needs of the business.
- Lead the Global Tax function.
Balance sheet and Cash Management:
- Hold responsibility for the Nidec Drives balance sheet and cash performance.
- Work with the sub-business segments to ensure action plans are in place to overachieve against targets.
- Measure and monitor cash performance across the business ensuring visibility to senior leadership.
Treasury:
- Work with Motion Finance, Motion and Energy Finance and Nidec Corporate Treasury, whilst leading and overseeing treasury activity for Nidec Drives.
- Manage relationships with the banks and other Financial Institutions serving Nidec Drives
Team Management:
- Provide leadership and guidance to direct reports and the wider Nidec Drives Finance team.
- Encourage creative, transformational thinking combined with a winning (never give up) mindset.
- Encourage strong communication between the Finance, and other parts of the Nidec Drives team.
Travel Requirements:
Travel will be as required to meet business circumstances and objectives:
- UK and Europe- regular travel (expectation quarterly)
- Americas and Asia – expectation of bi-annual long-haul travel.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Undergraduate Degree (in relevant financial or business discipline)
- Professional Financial Qualification.
- Credible prior experience in senior finance leadership roles (within a complex business)
- Commercial and Controlling Finance experience
- Strong financial acumen and analytical skills.
- Good people and project management skills.
- Experience in operating and influencing at a strategic level.
- Working within a multicultural and global environment
