What you will be doing:


The Responsible Business Executive reports into our Responsible Business Lead and plays a key role in managing and delivering our responsible business agenda. The role will help ensure we make steady progress on achieving our environment, people and communities’ commitments, embedding action across the Ampa group, as well as helping to grow our business to be one of the most successful legal groups in the UK Top 30.


You’ll be committed to being brave with our actions and embedding responsible business in a meaningful way within our business.


The responsible business agenda is focused on:


  • Supporting Ampa to be a force for good (through our B Corp accreditation, client work and integrating social and environmental considerations into business operations).
  • People (gender; race; open, supportive and inclusive environment)
  • Communities (charity partnerships fundraising; volunteering; pro-bono; social mobility)
  • Environment (achieving net zero targets; empowering internal net zero heroes; educating and engaging our people)


Your key duties will be:


  • Work with the Responsible Business Lead to ensure progress is made against our Responsible Business goals and action plan.
  • Drive the development and implementation of specific responsible business projects and actions to ensure that it remains a clear and consistent priority.
  • Be responsible for the environment stream, working with Ampa Net Zero Heroes across the group to monitor greenhouse gas emissions, refresh and manage the Climate Transition plan and deliver carbon reduction projects.
  • Support Ampa in being a proactive participant of the B Corp community, sharing best practice and learning from others.
  • Support our hub responsible business committees, More in Common network of inclusion groups, and environmental Net Zero Heroes to ensure we are driving activity, operational improvements & engagement internally & externally.
  • Collaborate with Ampa Group Services Leads & teams to ensure Responsible Business action and impact is understood and action is taken in their area of accountability e.g. Suppliers, People, recruitment, Operations, BD/Marketing, Finance & IT.
  • Lead the refresh and delivery of the Climate Transition Plan to ensure Ampa meets its science-based net zero commitments.
  • Ensure Ampa’s carbon footprint is calculated and published annually, leveraging external software to streamline the process.
  • Facilitate and lead the Net Zero Heroes community across Ampa (including workplace, travel, IT, suppliers) to motivate and support them to achieve carbon reporting and reductions projects.
  • Lead accurate reporting and timely publication of carbon emission and other environment reporting requirements in line with legal reporting obligations.
  • Lead appropriate assessments and action planning to address our group impact to biodiversity.


What you will need:


  • An excellent understanding (3-4 years experience) of the responsible business agenda (carbon data collection and analysis, net zero, carbon reduction initiatives, equality, diversity, inclusion, community, charitable giving and B Corp) and trends relating to them as well as a strong understanding of regulation and legislation.
  • Organised and self-motivated, not fazed by changing priorities.
  • Proven ability in planning, organising, project management and delivery; able to prioritise multiple work-streams and meet key deadlines.
  • Excellent influencer who navigates and adapt to organisational challenges to ensure successful delivery.
  • Drive to see through challenges, able to navigate stakeholder responses and overcome blockers to deliver great results.
  • Thrives in an agile environment – able to flex to make things happen.
  • Excellent level of empathy and emotional intelligence.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills with an ethical and transparent approach to working.
  • Excellent written and presenting skills.
