As a Buyer, your position is focused on ensuring that the business has a steady flow of products/materials being fed into operations on time, to the right quality and cost.


Responsibilities:

  • Order Management: You will be responsible for placing purchase orders for both direct and indirect materials, utilising the ERP system to manage and communicate material scheduling activities. Expediting material purchase orders to support customer demand will be a key aspect of your responsibilities.
  • Supplier Coordination: Establishing and maintaining effective communication with suppliers is essential to agree on and convey purchase order requirements, including quality standards and necessary documentation. You will develop and qualify new suppliers through the company's management systems to meet ongoing and future needs. Additionally, you will facilitate the return and replacement of rejected materials with suppliers, handling preparation and courier organisation.
  • Collaboration and Planning: Collaboration with the Operations team will be critical to ensure materials are delivered on time while maintaining quality and cost-effectiveness. You will also work closely with the Programmes team to ensure comprehensive supply chain planning for Development Programmes.
  • AS9100 Compliance: You will ensure that all procurement processes comply with AS9100 standards. This includes maintaining documentation, conducting regular audits, and working with suppliers to meet the quality management system requirements specific to the aerospace industry.
  • Flexibility and Teamwork: Flexibility in performing additional or alternative duties as needed, coupled with a 'can-do' attitude, is essential. Maintaining discipline in record-keeping and ensuring clear and succinct communication will be vital to your success.


Professional Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in using ERP and MRP systems.
  • Excellent analytical skills and a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational abilities to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Deep knowledge of supply chain and supplier development management.


Experience and Qualification:

To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Candidates with qualifications at HND, degree level, or equivalent and relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Proven hands-on experience in purchasing, preferably within the engineering or technology sectors.


Hours and Environment

  • Thirty-eight hours a week, Monday to Thursday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm (with a 30-minute lunch break).
  • Fridays, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
  • Standard 21 days of annual leave plus statutory bank holidays.
