**Assistant Construction Buyer**

**Salary**: £25,000

Full-time office-based position

Expected start date: As soon as possible

Schedule: Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm - with occasional weekend availability as projects demand

Location: Fradley, Driver Preferred

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Efficient Procurement: You will convert internal requisitions into request for quotations and procure competitively from their trusted external supply chain for their live fit-out projects.
- Logistics Coordination: Coordinating logistics using direct transport and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Invoice Management: Authorising invoices and handling queries efficiently to maintain smooth financial processes.
- Plant Losses and Damages: Managing plant losses and damages to minimise disruption and maintain project timelines.
- Relationship Building: Building and maintaining strong relationships with their supply chain partners, both internally and externally, to foster a collaborative working environment.

- Confident Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with team members and external partners.
- Negotiation: Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively to secure competitive prices and favorable terms.
- Project Management: Proven capability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.
- Team Player: A collaborative and supportive team player who can work effectively with colleagues.
- Initiative and Time Management: The ability to work independently and take initiative, especially under tight timescales, without compromising on quality.
- Organisational Skills: Excellent organisational skills to maintain efficient purchasing and logistics processes.
- Enthusiasm and Adaptability: An enthusiastic approach to work, coupled with adaptability to evolving project demands.
- Flexible Availability: Willingness to communicate and work outside of standard hours, if required.
- Industry Knowledge: While not mandatory, familiarity with construction materials and plant equipment would be advantageous.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in various Microsoft packages is essential for this role.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Specific purchasing qualifications such as CIPS are a plus
- Minimum 3 years of experience using various Microsoft packages - including Microsoft Excel
- Preferred experience in procurement / purchasing
- Essential experience working in a fast-paced environment
