  • Collaborative Governance: Act as a liaison between departmental and institutional IT governance, advocating for divisional needs and contributing to broader university-wide initiatives.
  • Security & Compliance: Ensure that IT services meet security, continuity, and compliance requirements, working with relevant institutional offices to uphold robust security standards.
  • Project Leadership: Lead major IT projects within the institution and participate in broader digital initiatives.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage the IT Services budget, providing regular reporting and ensuring effective financial planning.

  • Proven experience leading a large or complex IT service, ideally in a research-driven environment.
  • Track record of delivering outstanding customer-focused IT services, with knowledge of IT service frameworks such as ITIL.
  • Strong project and change management skills, with the ability to lead complex, multi-stakeholder projects at scale.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to present to senior stakeholders and a talent for explaining technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Proven experience in team management and staff development, with a collaborative approach to leadership.
  • Commitment to staying informed on IT innovations and a track record of leveraging new technology to enhance services.

  • Experience managing IT services in a research or higher education setting.
  • Project Management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2).
