This role will lead the Procurement function both strategically and operationally across the Multi-Academy Trust. This fantastic opportunity is paying c£67,500 per annum, offering 31 days annual leave, plus 8 bank holidays, and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.


E-ACT are an 'Award Winning' Multi-Academy Trust, with academies situated across England. They strive on delivering high level education to each of their academies', ensuring wellbeing is at the centre of everything they do. The Head of Procurement will lead the procurement function across E-ACT, ensuring that all purchasing activities are conducted efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with relevant regulations and policies. The postholder will also be required to:


  • Develop and implement a trust-wide procurement strategy aligned with the Trust's goals and objectives.
  • Implement plans for the strategy so that delivery of savings and realisation of benefits of a strategic sourcing approach have a clear timeline.
  • Provide leadership, professional development, and direction to the procurement function.
  • Advise senior leadership on procurement best practices and emerging trends in the education sector.
  • Oversee all procurement activities, including tendering, contract negotiation, and supplier management.
  • Manage the procurement budget and track savings and efficiencies achieved through procurement activities.
  • Identify and mitigate procurement risks, ensuring continuity of supply and adherence to quality standards.
  • Understand and work within the requirements of GDPR at all times and comply with E-ACT policy in terms of data protection.
  • Develop constructive relationships and communicate with other agencies and professionals.
  • Comply and assist with the development of relevant policies.
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the post, as requested by the CFO.


The Head of Procurement role requires a strategic thinker with excellent negotiation skills and a thorough understanding of end-to-end procurement. The successful applicant will lead a step change to increase the contribution of procurement to the strategic objectives of E-ACT.


You will:


  • Ideally MCIPS or equivalent qualified (CIPS or QBE will be considered).
  • Hold a degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven experience in a senior procurement role.
  • Strong understanding of procurement regulations and best practices.
  • Previous knowledge of Public Sector Procurement Regulations.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective procurement strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Experience in managing and developing a high-performing team.
