GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The role will define accurately and concisely the commercial parameters of opportunities, ensuring they are in line with the business plan in terms of risk/ added value and ensure organization’s compliance to all general laws and legal provisions.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Accountable for the overall commercial performance, minimizing the costs of projects and enhance value for money.
  • Review the project tenders in line with the bidding SOPs to ensure an adequate return on the resource assets utilized for projects.
  • Review all contractor applications on behalf of the client and make recommendations for payment.
  • Support in developing estimating, design & bid standards to deliver value added and cost-effective solutions.
  • Take a key role in contract negotiations with clients and play a major part in achieving satisfactory outcomes in terms of profit and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide support to projects and the wider organization through an in-depth understanding of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes.
  • Manage and update cost management system, detailing project cash flows and, committed costs and anticipated costs to complete.
  • Monitor and ensure prompt resolution of final accounts, including settlement of Compensation Events (variations), claims and disputes.
  • Identify deviations in projects and procurement progress and suggest possible courses of corrective action.
  • Ensure projects are closed out in a timely fashion and that closure targets are achieved.
  • Work with divisional teams to develop and appraise investment cases to identify business returns and added value to opportunities.
  • Identification of business risk and opportunities and ensuring robust management systems are in place on projects.
  • Negotiate contract and sub-contract terms, tender appraisals of Bids.
  • Supervise the administration of project contracts, including but not limited to the administration, identify variations and issue contractual notices to the client, etc.
  • Actively seek ways of using IT systems to improve and or support working practices and processes
  • Liaise with and manage a team of Quantity Surveyors for project work in the UAE.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor degree in Quantity Surveying from an accredited University is a plus.
  • MBA or Engineering degree is an asset.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Construction commercial management.
  • A chartered Quantity Surveyor with a wide variety of experience in Project Management is preferable.
  • Experience of 5 years in the Middle East is preferred.
