Children's Residential Support Worker - Chester - Permanent

Your new companyHays Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with an Ofsted rated "Good" children's service provider in Chester as they require several qualified and motivated support workers to work with children and young people between the ages of 7 - 19 with complex Autistic Spectrum Disorders and behaviours that challenge. This provider is national leading specialist for SEND and ASD care. This is a 37.5 and 48-hour contract that will lead to a permanent position for the right individuals. The school focuses highly on career progression and training in-house with a welcoming and warm approach. The school is set into a specialist school and residential homes all on the same site to produce continuity for the service users.
Your new roleIn your new role you will have a full-time 37.5 or a 48-hour contract on a weekly basis and you will be supporting children and young people with complex needs such as ASD and challenging behaviours and other complex and challenging needs. The children and young people within the service are supported on a 1:1, 2:1, and 3:1 basis depending on their needs, emotional state, and environment so the ability to work as a team and building strong constructive relations with colleagues and service users is paramount. You will partake and lead various different provisions including aiding with school work and inclusive games. Other duties will include but are not limited to access to education/aiding with school work, the use of PECs & visual aids, promoting independence, and building self-esteem.
What you'll need to succeedIn order to be successful with your application you need full Right to Work in the UK as well as a minimum of 6 months referenceable experience supporting children and/or young people in the last 2 years as well as:NVQ/QCF Level 2 or equivalent in Children and Young People's Health and Social CareBe willing to work towards and NVQ/QCF Level 3 or equivalent in Children and Young People's Health and Social CareA caring and compassionate natureShare the right values and competency values of the school/service.A background or strong understanding of ASD and challenging behaviours
