Head of Digital Products

An exciting opportunity has come up to hire a Head of Digital Products for the Barclays Women's Super League and Barclays Women's Championship (BWSL/BWC); this is a newly created high-profile role responsible for driving the digital offering, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer and working closely with relevant senior leaders across a multiple disciplinary team including Football Operations, Revenue, Content, Marketing and Communications. The Head of Digital will be responsible for the strategic direction and execution of the Women's Professional Game's digital offer across multiple touchpoints, including web, mobile and OTT platforms and consider the requirements for the internal business needs. This is a pivotal role for the future of the Women's Game, helping to deliver its long-term commercial success.

You will be an entrepreneurial self-starter, highly experienced at driving a digital engagement plan to underpin the NewCo brand and business plan, including sustainable commercial growth, engagement of diverse fans, and building successful stakeholder relationships.

This senior position will play a pivotal role in building sustainable financial success and enhancing the league's reputation on a global basis.

What will you be doing?

The Head of Digital Products will oversee the selection, development and operations of a portfolio of digital products and services that will enable:

  • Compelling digital experiences for fans
  • Management, syndication and distribution of content for media and partners
  • Digital capabilities that support and foster collaboration with players and clubs
  • Analytics and insights delivery across the organisation

As part of the extended senior team, you will be responsible for developing clear product vision, strategy and path to execution for the Women's Professional Game's digital offering - ensuring that it aligns with overall strategy and meets the needs of users.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Establish digital products as a vital component in the delivery of the organisation's aims and objectives
  • Effectively communicate and evangelise the product vision and delivery roadmaps to executive leadership and external stakeholders
  • Be a true partner & collaborator internally to marketing & revenue teams to enable the service, delivery and monetization of content and league channels
  • Build collaborative alliances and relationships with digital teams in the leagues' Partner Clubs to develop capabilities that support collective growth of the leagues and the game
  • Communicate technical or specialist information persuasively and with gravitas adapting the style and message to a diverse internal or external audience in an inclusive and accessible way
  • Lead and champion a data-informed culture; ensure outcomes are identified, measured and articulated - demonstrating the value of digital development, continually
  • Take full P&L responsibility for the digital estate. Ensure that development and activity is delivered to strict budgetary constraints; build investment cases, where necessary, to enable acceleration of activity or the delivery of new innovation

What are we looking for?

Critical Experience

  • Significant experience in a senior Product Management role, in a media or content-driven organisation
  • Demonstrable experience of driving growth; the successful candidate will have developed and executed strategies to deliver measurable business outcomes for a major consumer-facing product, or portfolio of products
  • Proven ability to prioritise and make decisions based on research or usage data
  • Understanding of, and/or qualifications in, modern, iterative digital development methodologies (e.g. Agile)
  • Demonstrable experience of the functional and creative delivery and execution of different commercial/revenue models (e.g. Subscription, e-Commerce, Advertising/Sponsorship)
  • Proven ability to develop digital strategy that blends the needs of commercial, editorial/content and marketing functions
  • Demonstrable experience of developing and executing strategies to enable the distribution and discovery of propositions in third-party-mediated environments (eg App Stores, OTT and television platforms and with OEM manufacturers)
  • Strong technical background, with the ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts to a broad audience
  • Proven ability to analyse and interpret customer and market insights to inform product decisions
  • Proven experience with the delivery of sport and or/entertainment content - with a particular understanding of live events and live content
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
