Data Governance Manager

FDM is a global business and tech consultancy seeking a Data Governance Manager to work for our client. This is an initial 6-month contract.


As a Data Governance Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the data governance framework across the organisation. This role ensures that data is managed as a strategic asset, enabling improved data quality, accessibility, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The Data Governance Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish policies, standards, and procedures that support data management goals.


Responsibilities include:

  • Comprehensive understanding of data protection regulations, particularly the data-sharing components of the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018
  • Ability to review and apply legislative frameworks to processes confidently
  • Experience in advising on a variety of projects in different development stages, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and standards
  • Ability to prioritise and manage projects with varying degrees of urgency
  • Experience in working with various departments to implement and continuously improve data policies, procedures, and standards
  • Ability to ensure that data users understand their responsibilities, departmental policies, procedures, and standards
  • Developing and conducting training sessions for colleagues to enhance understanding of data governance practices
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently deliver robust advice and communicate with stakeholders clearly
  • Competence in using Microsoft products, including Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
