My client is a leading underwriter specialising in commercial motor insurance. They predominantly underwrite commercial vehicle policies, with a portfolio that includes some private motor policies and as well a fleet and other motor business. They are looking for Claims Manager to take responsibility of their dedicated in-house claims team ensures that all claims are managed efficiently and professionally from the first notification through to conclusion.


Team Structure:

The claims department comprises a team of 17 professionals, including three deputy managers. This team is led by the Claims Manager, who plays a crucial role in overseeing all claims activities.

Job Overview:

The Claims Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing the entire claims process, ensuring that claims are handled efficiently and effectively while meeting all regulatory and company standards. The role involves managing workloads, setting reserves, preparing reports for the board, and handling larger litigated claims. The Claims Manager will also liaise with solicitors, attend client claims review meetings, and meet with our backers.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Work Allocation & Management:
  • Allocate and manage workloads across the claims team to ensure timely and efficient processing of claims.
  • Monitor team performance and provide guidance to ensure high standards are maintained.
  • Service Level Compliance:
  • Maintain and comply with service level agreements for suppliers and backers.
  • Ensure all claims are processed within set timeframes and to the required quality standards.
  • Financial Management:
  • Set reserves for claims in accordance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Prepare bordereaux and statistical reports for presentation to BUA's Board.
  • Litigated Claims Handling:
  • Handle larger, litigated claims in conjunction with solicitors.
  • Ensure that all legal aspects are managed professionally and in the best interests of the company.
  • Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Attend client claims review meetings to provide updates and resolve issues.
  • Participate in claims meetings with backers to discuss claim trends and performance.


Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a claims management role within commercial motor insurance industry.
  • Strong excel skills – v look up & pivot tables
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of claims handling processes and legal requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective client and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency in preparing detailed reports
