Job Description and Qualifications
We are seeking an experienced Proposals Manager to support the Standard Plants Product Line for bidding activities within EMEA. You will work closely with the Proposals Management team in Crewe, Cheshire, UK.
As the Proposals Manager, you will:
- Develop cost estimates and technical proposals for screening, budgetary, and firm bids, including project schedules and site layouts to support the commercial team.
- Provide broad-based technical expertise for Standard Plants products.
- Drive competitiveness in offerings, as well as in each individual proposal, to support winning profitable business.
- Collaborate in developing winning strategies in conjunction with commercial areas, Engineering Product Owners, and Functional Engineering teams by understanding the competitive environment, identifying the most efficient options to meet customer needs, and successfully working with customers, suppliers, and contractors.
- Understand the commercial implications of the details of each estimate, making business-critical decisions to drive the competitiveness of the proposal.
- Develop, own, and maintain costing tools and other project development tools used to estimate projects and develop proposals.
- Support risk management efforts in the project development phase by identifying risks and opportunities and recommending mitigating strategies in documented risk management plans.
- Ensure that Engineering Standards, Engineering Procedures, and Work Instructions are understood, consistently followed, and improved upon where necessary to enable efficient project development and execution.
To be successful, you will have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent, supported by significant experience in a similar or related environment.
- Previous experience in proposal management, project development, project engineering, or engineered product development.
- Proven strong leadership skills, with the ability to be outspoken, persistent, and hold people accountable to commitments.
- Strong interpersonal and administrative skills.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint (required), and Microsoft SharePoint (desired).
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, lead meetings, and manage conversations effectively with high-level management.
- The ability to work effectively with a global team, interfacing with team members in various countries.
- The ability to work independently, being accountable for accomplishing work with minimal direction.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to take initiative with an entrepreneurial attitude.
